Cynthia S. Brochu, a long time SunState FCU member, previously worked at Scruggs & Carmichael for ten years as Administrative/Financial Director.  In 2013 she became the Finance and Budget Director at The University of Florida College of The Arts. Cynthia is currently Assistant Director of Finance for the Office of the Senior Vice President Of Health Affairs Administration at UF Health University of Florida. She has a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and is currently working on a Master’s Degree.  Cynthia brings to The Board of Directors a perspective from the public and private business sectors that will benefit the Credit Union as it continues to grow and serve its members in the communities of North Central Florida. 

Patrick Fitzgeral photoPatrick Fitzgerald- Vice-Chairman

Patrick Fitzgerald has been a member of SunState for over 28 years, serving over 19 years on the Board. He holds a BS degree from Iowa State Univ. in Agriculture and a  MS Degree from American Univ. Washington D.C. in Applied Public Management. He retired from the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture after 33 years of service and worked for the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) 14 years. He now is a licensed mold inspector.  He is presently serving as Treasurer of the Board and is most conscious of providing and improving member services.

Calvin DeCoursey - Treasurer

Calvin DeCoursey has been a member of the credit union since 1990. He is a Captain currently serving as the Administative Services Division Commander for the Alachua County Sheriff's Office; he has been employed at the agency for over 23 years. DeCoursey is a member of the A.L. Mebane Alumni Association and the Saint Leo Command Officer School Alumni Association.

Jane Taylor joined SunState FCU when she began her federal career with USDA in 1972.   She graduated from Santa Fe Community College and attended UF.  Jane was the Executive Assistant to the Director of the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System and retired from the local VA in 2014 with 38 years of service.  She has an extensive background in operations management, policy development and implementation, budget management and strategic planning.  Jane is proud SunState is recognized as a leader in the community and provides members excellent financial services and customer service.

John Campen

John Campen has been a SunState member for approx. 20 years.  He began serving on the Credit Committee and was later elected to the Board.  He has served for the past two years as its Chairman.  For the past 30 plus years, he has been active in the real estate and auction business, doing business as Campen Realty and Campen Auctions.  He proudly served in the US Air Force during Vietnam.  As a board member, his focus is on members service and financial soundness.

Chad King

A Gainesville native, Chad attended Oak Hall High School, where he played basketball. He was one of 25 players in the state nominated for Florida Mr. Basketball. He also played baseball, and was drafted to play professionally by the Cincinnati Reds. Rather than pursue professional baseball, Chad elected to attend the University of Kansas on a baseball scholarship. He was two-time team captain of his alma mater’s baseball team.   After earning a B.A. in Business from the University of Kansas in 1999, Chad moved to Jacksonville, where he earned his MBA from the University of North Florida while working at Merrill Lynch. In 2002, he was offered a position at Lehman Brothers in Los Angeles and spent six years there. In 2008, Chad returned to Gainesville. Today, he owns and oversees King Insurance, the agency his father founded. He enjoys his off time with his daughter and two sons.

 David Nicholson

David Nicholson has been with the Credit Union for more than 18 years and was a member service representative at several branches. Nicholson now runs Dawn Realty as a realtor and broker, and is involved in a unique realm of civic and professional societies, including the Freemasons, Shriners, and the American Legion. Nicholson brings his unique perspective to the board, and says he is particularly proud of the credit union’s Web site.

Sharon Papciak 

Sharon Teston Papciak, native of Gainesville, graduated from GHS, attended Santa Fe. Served on the Credit and Supervisory Committees of Sunstate; the Supervisory Committee of FL CU.  She has two daughters and three grandchildren.  Retired after 30 years from USDA as Administrative Officer.  A member of Sunstate almost 50 years.
