John Campen- Chairman

John Campen has been a SunState member for approx. 20 years.  He began serving on the Credit Committee and was later elected to the Board.  He has served for the past two years as its Chairman.  For the past 30 plus years, he has been active in the real estate and auction business, doing business as Campen Realty and Campen Auctions.  He proudly served in the US Air Force during Vietnam.  As a board member, his focus is on members service and financial soundness.

George Langley - Vice Chairman

George Langley has been a credit union member since 1973, retired from the US Postal Service. Graduated Gainesville High School, formerly served in the US Marine Corp and attended Santa Fe Community College, managed a local Chick Fil A  for 7 years before retiring. He has served the Sunstate FCU membership  since 1991 as Credit Committee Chairman and now currently serving on the Board of Directors and he brings a true community and member services perspective to the board.

Patrick Fitzgerald - Treasurer

Patrick Fitzgerald has been a member of SunState for over 28 years, serving over 19 years on the Board. He holds a BS degree from Iowa State Univ. in Agriculture and a  MS Degree from American Univ. Washington D.C. in Applied Public Management. He retired from the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture after 33 years of service and worked for the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) 14 years. He now is a licensed mold inspector.  He is presently serving as Treasurer of the Board and is most conscious of providing and improving member services.


John D. Dishong, Sr.

John D. Dishong, Sr., has been a SunState member since 1958 or nearly as long as the credit union has existed. For more than 38 total years, he has served as a volunteer on the Supervisory Commitee, Credit Committee and Board. He graduated of University of Florida College of Engineering and is now a Florida Professional Retired.  Having served in the Army from 1951-1953, he is designated as an Atomic Veteran.  He spent 29 and a half years as an engineer with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Soil Conservation Service in Gainesville.

Joseph Mueller

Joe Mueller has been a credit union member for over 35 years, with over ten years on the Board and several years on the Supervisory Committee. He currently works with U.S.D.A. Rural Development as the Business & Cooperative Program Director.   Mueller is proud of SunState’s expansion and growth over the years and its focus on service to the members and the communities in the north central Florida area.

David Nicholson

David Nicholson has been with the Credit Union for more than 18 years and was a member service representative at several branches. Nicholson now runs Dawn Realty as a realtor and broker, and is involved in a unique realm of civic and professional societies, including the Freemasons, Shriners, and the American Legion. Nicholson brings his unique perspective to the board, and says he is particularly proud of the credit union’s Web site

Cynthia S. Brochu

Cynthia S. Brochu, a long time SunState FCU member, previously worked at Scruggs & Carmichael for ten years as Administrative/Financial Director.  In 2013 she became the Finance and Budget Director at The University of Florida College of The Arts. Cynthia is currently Assistant Director of Finance for the Office of the Senior Vice President Of Health Affairs Administration at UF Health University of Florida. She has a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and is currently working on a Master’s Degree.  Cynthia brings to The Board of Directors a perspective from the public and private business sectors that will benefit the Credit Union as it continues to grow and serve its members in the communities of North Central Florida. 

Calvin DeCoursey

Calvin DeCoursey has been a member of the credit union since 1990. He is a lieutenant currently serving as Bureau Chief of Court Security for the Alachua County Sheriff’s office, where he has been employed for over 18 years. DeCoursey is a member of the A. L. Mebane Alumni association and the Saint Leo Command Officer School Alumni Association. He also volunteers at the Alachua Recreation Center.
