Board of Directors
George Langley -  Chairman

George Langley has been a credit union member for over 30 years and manages a Chick-Fil-A® locally. A Santa Fe High School and Santa Fe Community College graduate, he also served in the Marines. Langley retired as a customer service manager after more than 31 years with the U.S. Postal Service. He brings a true community and member services perspective to the board.

John Campen- Vice Chairman

John Campen has been a SunState member for over 16 years and has served over eight years on the Board and Credit Committee. As the owner of American Woodland Properties, Campen Realty, and Campen Auctions, he is proud of the credit union’s focus on member service.

 

 Patrick Fitzgerald - Treasurer

Patrick Fitzgerald has been a SunState member for over 25 years, serving over 18 years on the Board. He retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Farmers Home Administration in 1996, but continues to be involved in small business development as a certified business analyst through the Small Business Development Center.

 

Janet Larson - Secretary 

Janet Larson has been a credit union member for 30 years, the second woman in the credit union’s history to serve as the board’s Chairwoman (2006-2012), and the third woman to serve as a board member (2005-present). A retired Gainesville Police Officer with 22 years service, she is the city’s first female patrol officer. Since Janet’s retirement from GPD in 1994 she has been a State Health Inspector, and works for the Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services. She is currently a member of the National Association of Federal Credit Union’s Regulatory & Compliance Committee in Washington D.C., since 2010; Board of Director of Peaceful Paths, a Domestic Violence Network, since 2000; and Secretary/Treasurer of Gainesville Police Retiree’s Association, since 1998. Janet brings dedication & professionalism to the credit union, believes in giving back to the community, and her motto is, “care enough to get involved!” 

John D. Dishong, Sr.

John D. Dishong, Sr., has been a SunState member for nearly as long as the credit union has existed— over 50 years. For more than 35 total years, he has served on the Board, Credit Committee and Supervisory Committee. Having served in the Army, he spent 29 and a half years as an engineer with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Soil Conservation Service in Gainesville.
   

Joseph Mueller

Joseph Mueller has been a credit union member for over 30 years, with over seven years on the Board and several years on the Supervisory Committee. Currently, he is a Rural Business Program Director with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development, Rural Business Programs Division. Mueller is proud of SunState’s expansion and growth over the years, which has helped to "improve the economic and business climate in rural areas."

   

 
 

David Nicholson

David Nicholson has been with the Credit Union for more than 18 years and was a member service representative at several branches. Nicholson now runs Dawn Realty as a realtor and broker, and is involved in a unique realm of civic and professional societies, including the Freemasons, Shriners, and the American Legion. Nicholson brings his unique perspective to the board, and says he is particularly proud of the credit union’s Web site 

   
 

Cynthia S. Brochu

Cynthia S. Brochu, a long time SunState FCU member, has worked at Scruggs & Carmichael since 2003 as Administrative Director. She is also the owner and operator of SL Scanning Solutions. As the newest board member Cynthia hopes to bring a perspective from the business community to the Credit Union that will help the Credit Union continue to grow.
   
 
Calvin DeCoursey
 

Calvin DeCoursey has been a member of the credit union since 1990. He is a lieutenant currently serving as Bureau Chief of Court Security for the Alachua County Sheriff’s office, where he has been employed for over 18 years. DeCoursey is a member of the A. L. Mebane Alumni association and the Saint Leo Command Officer School Alumni Association. He also volunteers at the Alachua Recreation Center.
